    Under the supervision of the Bilingual Domestic Violence Program (BDVP) Medical Advocacy Supervisor, the IPV Specialist is primarily responsible for providing individual and group counseling services and advocacy for intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors and their families as part of a hospital-based IPV prevention and response program. The IPV Specialist also provides training, technical support, and program development within their hospital site as part of the Medical Advocacy program. 

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provides on-site and telephonic counseling, advocacy, and resource connection to adults and teens experiencing intimate partner violence, as referred through the healthcare setting
    • Maintains a caseload of 1-3 ongoing individual counseling clients, providing 10 sessions of empowerment counseling, case management, advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services to IPV victim/survivors and their families
    • Conducts outreach activities such as tabling, “rounding”, and awareness campaigns on a regular basis with support from supervisor and other team members as needed
    • Facilitates health system IPV task force, a group made of multidisciplinary stakeholders from the hospital and clinics
    • Participates in the development and presentation of workshops/trainings on IPV issues to the hospital and larger community
    • Consults regularly with hospital teams to review cases and coordinate calls and follow-up as appropriate
    • Participates in weekly supervision and attends all trainings required by agency, program, and hospital partner
    • Assists with evaluation of the BDVP programs and services including facilitating client and training surveys, and participates in the development of new program concepts
    • Participates in the development of printed materials, public service announcements, and public relations on IPV
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

    Qualifications:

    • Bilingual English/Spanish is required
    • Experience in providing counseling services, education, or training is preferred
    • Experience working with people in a healthcare or community services setting is a plus
    • This is an in-person position Mondays through Thursdays, located at our hospital partner site or our agency headquarters in Fishtown. A remote-work option is available on Fridays after completion of the first 90-days
    • Some flexible scheduling may be required on occasional evenings and weekends in exchange for immediate flex time off, to maintain a maximum 40-hour work week. No overtime required
    • Ideal candidates will possess strong listening and interpersonal skills, effective problem-solving skills, comfortability with public speaking, and strong attention to detail in documentation and schedule management
    • Ideal candidates will be able to work both collaboratively and independently with a diverse group of individuals, will have strong organizational and communication skills (oral and written), and demonstrate a clear commitment to best practice in client care
    • Paid on-the-job training is provided, including a state-mandated 40-hour domestic violence training and 5 hours of double staffing within the BDVP program. Once completed, the individual is expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, knowledge of community resources, and sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence victims and their families
