The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is proud to have been recognized as a 2023 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For award winner. We are an award-winning, independent global nonprofit research organization dedicated to supporting the effective design and implementation of policies that address the impacts of the global transportation sector on climate change and public health. At the ICCT, we provide high-quality, timely, data-driven research to public officials at all levels of government—city, state, national, regional, and international—as well as to civil society and the media. Our mission-driven and culturally diverse workplace values intelligence, flexibility, transparency, and good humor. Join our growing team of talented researchers with offices in Beijing, Berlin, New Delhi, São Paulo, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

The ICCT is looking for a self-directed, energetic person to implement the research strategy for transitioning to electric vehicles in India. Representative work can be seen at  https://theicct.org/region/india/. You will report to the India Managing Director in Delhi and work from the ICCT’s Delhi office in accordance with the organization's policy, which currently requires a minimum of three days per week.

To succeed in our environment, you should be intellectually curious, self-directed, and able to work with people from across the globe. You must be adept at understanding technical research, connecting research to policy, and translating technical information to stakeholders.

    You Will:

    • Work closely with our India Managing Director and Communications Director to develop and implement near- and long-term communication and outreach strategies, including media strategy, for our India program.
    • Work with the ICCT's global editorial team to facilitate the editing and quality control of India’s research publications and produce or help produce supporting outreach materials.
    • Ensure delivery of high editorial and design standards for all communication products in India by collaborating closely with the ICCT’s global communications team, graphic designer, and external vendors.
    • Supervise and coach India's communications staff and consultants to implement ICCT India’s strategic communications plan.
    • Lead internal communication within the India program, including maintaining the India team’s editorial and communications calendars in alignment with other members of the global communications team.
    • Act as the primary liaison between the India office and the global communications team, as well as other ICCT teams, to ensure that all activities are coordinated and aligned with ICCT processes and priorities. Participate as a core member of the India team in weekly calls and other meetings, regularly updating other ICCT offices about work in progress, managing expectations, and addressing issues that arise to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Manage relations with core stakeholders, including public agencies, collaborators, funders, and more. Typical activities may include in-person meetings and briefings. Through effective communication, gather useful information to guide our India strategy and work plan.
    • Amplify ICCT’s work in India by pitching articles, reports, and opinion pieces to external media and help establish ICCT’s India staff as technical experts in relevant fields in accordance with ICCT’s publication standards.
    • Lead in organizing virtual/in-person events, workshops, conferences, and publication launches, coordinating with the ICCT’s global communications team and external vendors to produce materials required for events, including program brochures and other collateral.
    • Work with ICCT’s digital coordinator and other members of the global communications team to manage and scale ICCT’s media and social media channels for India’s work, including but not limited to LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, and other digital mediums.
    • Maintain and build contact lists for ICCT India and oversee the production and distribution of periodic newsletters and other digital outreach materials using relevant tools.
    • Support fundraising activities, including funder meetings, by producing materials in collaboration with the ICCT’s development and communications teams.
    • Support the outreach of our technical work at various venues. Typical activities may include preparing speeches/presentations for meetings and conferences and prepping ICCT staff for public and/or media appearances.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    You Have:

    • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with experience in communications, journalism, or public relations. A master’s or other graduate-level degree is a plus.
    • Self-motivation, independence, strong organizational skills, and results-driven project management capabilities.
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in journalism or external communications.
    • Expertise in media outreach and campaigns, brand communications, news writing, and copyediting.
    • Experience supervising and managing full-time staff, consultants, and vendors.
    • Outstanding writing and public speaking skills, with an exceptional ability to communicate technical information and policy details to individuals from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in English writing and the ability to clearly communicate complex ideas in plain language.
    • Knowledge of and the ability to execute communication campaigns in vernacular languages is a valuable asset.
