    Cashion Cultural Legacy (CCL) is a vibrant nonprofit arts organization based in San José, California, dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich heritage of Mexican folk culture through the art of dance. CCL proudly supports two renowned performing companies, Los Lupeños de San José and Los Lupeños Juvenil, along with the community-focused Los Lupeños Academy, which offers accessible dance education to all.

    Rooted in the legacy of the esteemed Dr. Susan V. Cashion, CCL fosters cultural exchange between California and México, nurturing creativity and artistic excellence through its innovative Artist Exchange program.     ABOUT THE ROLE & POSITION

    The Executive Director (ED) of CCL will lead the organization through a dynamic period of growth and transformation, managing and expanding its staff (3 FT and 11 PT), and operating budget of $680,000. In order to advance CCL’s mission to preserve and celebrate Mexican folk culture through dance, the ED will in partnership with the Board and Artistic Director, create and implement the strategic vision, guiding program development and community engagement efforts while ensuring financial stability and growth through effective fundraising. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with a deep passion for the arts, capable of inspiring the team and building strong community relationships. They will also navigate the challenges of leading a volunteer-based cultural arts organization and will have the ability to drive organizational processes, ensuring CCL’s continued impact in the community and beyond.

    Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    STRATEGIC PLANNING – develops and implements the organization’s strategic plan and annual action plans in conjunction with the board. 

    PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT – develops, implements and supervises programs and services that are consistent with the organization’s mission and strategic plan and that meet the needs of participants and partners. 

    FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT – together with the board, develops and manages the fundraising and financial strategies of the organization; diversifies revenue streams; develops an annual budget for approval by the board; oversees the management of all funds, consistent with the organization’s accounting system. 

    LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT – motivates and develops the professional team; facilitates hiring, supervises and evaluates staff; coordinates work with the board’s committees, volunteers and partner organizations. 

    COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT – develops effective working relationships within the community (both within the arts community and elsewhere) to ensure that Mexican dance and its related arts are represented in the community-at-large and especially for the local community that the CCL serves. 

    ADVOCACY – serves as the chief spokesperson and ambassador of CCL in the community; articulates and communicates the value of the arts in improving quality of life and promotes community support of Mexican dance and CCL. 

    ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    The ideal candidate for this role will possess most, if not all, of the following qualifications and characteristics:

    • A demonstrated and genuine passion for dance, arts, and culture
    • Education & Management: bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, the arts, or a related field; master’s degree is a plus
    • Management: 5 years’ experience managing people
    • Strategy & Leadership: Strong planning, organizational, and analytical abilities; proven ability to motivate and develop staff, board members, and volunteers; skilled in building consensus
    • Community & Collaboration: Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area arts community; experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
    • Fundraising & Donor Relations: Successful track record in fundraising; adept at building and maintaining donor relationships; experience with donor databases; proven track record in attracting and managing Corporate Sponsors
    • Communication & Vision: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; visionary and innovative thinker
    • Business Operations: Sound Finance, Accounting, Marketing, and Program Development skills and experience
    • Sector Experience: employment history in grassroots, startup nonprofit, or cultural arts organization is a plus
    • Additional Skills: Biliterate and bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus
    • Compliance: Valid California driver’s license with state-mandated insurance coverage
