What You Will Do:
The CD Intern will support the development of two 14-week ELA elementary school curriculum, along with corresponding teacher guides. The intern should be familiar with common core standards, curriculum design and research on culturally relevant pedagogy. This internship offers a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to contribute to impactful educational resources and gain hands-on experience in curriculum design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with our team to design and develop two 4th or 5th grade level curricula
- Teacher Guide Creation: Develop comprehensive teacher guides that accompany ELA curriculum, providing detailed instructions, lesson plans, and resources for educators.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct research on best practices in culturally relevant pedagogy and current educational trends to inform curriculum design.
- Standards Alignment: Ensure that the curricula align with common core standards and other relevant educational standards.
- Content Creation: Create engaging and diverse instructional materials, including lesson plans, assessments, and supplementary resources.
- Feedback & Iteration: Incorporate feedback from teachers and other stakeholders to refine and improve the curricula.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the curriculum design team, educators, and subject matter experts to ensure high-quality and effective curricula
What You Must Have:
- Commitment to justice and equity
- Bachelor's degree (required) or master’s degree (preferred) in Education with emphasis in Curriculum Design, English Language Arts, Teaching and Learning, or a related field
- Comfort with identifying core and supplemental texts for the unit that speak to diverse and underrepresented cultural and racial experiences
- Experience with K-12 English curriculum design
- Knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogical/curricular practices
- Excellent communication skills
This position reports directly to CMJ’s Stafford Hood Fellow for Culturally Responsive Assessment Research Scientist.
