    Description

    The Peconic Land Trust is approaching our 41st anniversary of protecting Long Island’s working farms, natural lands, and heritage.     Primary Responsibilities

    Reporting to the SVP, HR and Operations, the HR Assistant coordinates general office operations and provides support for the full employment lifecycle. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to following:

    General Office and Operations

    • Inventory and order office supplies and services to upkeep the main office.
    • Make travel arrangements for staff for two annual Rally’s.
    • Create presentations for staff meetings and manage the logistics for meetings and staff events such as Summer BBQ, Fall Potluck, and year-end holiday celebration.
    • Act as a back up to the front desk to answer phones and open and distribute mail.

    Human Resources

    • Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain regular contact with payroll company for troubleshooting and reporting.
    • Post job openings and manage applicant flow by serving as the main point of contact throughout the recruitment and hiring process for applicants and hiring managers.
    • Manage the onboarding and offboarding of staff including new employee orientation and all the related communication and paperwork processing.
    • Update health, retirement, and LTD/life insurance, including application, enrollment, invoices, audits and communication with staff.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Minimum of an associate degree in human resources, business, or related area.
    • At least 1-2 years of administrative experience with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in a deadline-oriented environment
    • Familiarity with HR and payroll administration is a plus.
    • Strong desire to pursue or continue a career in Human Resources and confidence to navigate challenges.
    • Ability to exercise good judgement and maintain confidentiality of protected and sensitive information.
    • Professional communication etiquette orally and written.
    • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic office equipment.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver's license with the ability to reliability commute to Southampton and attend 2 all hands-on deck weekend events each year.

    We Offer

    • $23-$25 per hour commensurate with human resources experience
    • 35 hours a week Monday-Friday, with a hybrid work schedule up to 2 days per week remote after successfully completing the 90-day initial employment period.
