    WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    MusiCares is committed to growing the reach and impact of our services to music professionals across the United States. The Director, Community & Outreach will play an integral role in advancing and leading this scope, increasing reach and uptake of our services among specific geographies, demographic groups and genres of music professionals.

    In this role, you will identify opportunities in our current operational model to improve outreach with new and existing clients, industry partners and community organizations. Utilizing internal and external data, you will develop and operationalize a targeted outreach plan, including building partnerships which serve the needs of our community. You will engage and connect with the MusiCares community at music festivals, conferences, MusiCares events and more.

    You are highly resourceful with demonstrated capacities to lead community development efforts in a non-profit setting. Experience working with music/entertainment-focused initiatives is helpful, but not required.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Develop strong understanding of Health & Human Services (HHS) data systems and work closely with the HHS team to maintain an understanding of trends and needs among MusiCares clients and music professionals broadly.
    • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of MusiCares operations in HHS and Marketing to identify and implement opportunities for enhanced outreach.
    • Utilizing data, build and operationalize a targeted outreach plan, which includes increased engagement with music professionals, music industry companies, community organizations, community leaders, government/municipal agencies and more.
    • Closely coordinate with the HHS team to develop services and programming with partner organizations that responds to the needs of MusiCares clients.
    • Manage and lead the three-year Humans of Hip Hop (H3) initiative (currently in year two), which includes:
      • Operationalize the project plan for growing awareness about MusiCares services with Hip Hop professionals through partnership, community outreach, and connections with trusted industry voices in Hip Hop.
      • Monitor progress against targets and adjust as needed.
      • Manage the project budget.
      • Regularly represent MusiCares at H3-related events and festivals.
    • Lead organizational outreach with industry companies and individuals to grow participation in MusiCares annual day of service, The Day That Music Cares.
    • Regularly represent MusiCares at events with opportunity for community engagement, including music festivals, conferences, MusiCares events and partner events.
    • Provide support for MusiCares activations at festival and events (travel required).
    • Partner with the Systems & Database Manager to build out and maintain a Salesforce module for partner/community engagement.
    • Cross-cutting Accountabilities:
      • Work in close coordination with the HHS Leadership team to ensure seamless integration of MusiCares existing services and special initiatives.
      • Coordinate with MusiCares Development and Marketing teams on elements of special initiatives, including sponsorship and external promotion.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Masters preferred but not required.
    • 8-10 years’ experience working in a program management position for a non-profit, social impact or social services organization.
    • Demonstrated strength in sourcing and growing a broad and purposeful partnership network.
    • A sense of curiosity and resourcefulness in solving complex problems, particularly related to the needs of diverse and underserved communities.
    • Demonstrated experience utilizing and analyzing data to inform a strategy.
    • Proven experience and capacity for strategic thinking.
    • Emotional awareness and sensitivity to work with a diverse range of individuals.
    • A high degree of professionalism and personal accountability.
    • Ability to work well independently and in a matrixed team environment.
    • A passion for MusiCares’ mission and a proven servant leadership mindset.
    • Ability to travel as needed (5-10%).
