    Compensation commensurate with licensure type and years of experience. Salary range for MSW $67,500 - $71,826. Salary range for LCSW $75,063 - $76,826. Internships, volunteer work, and gaps in employment will not be counted towards years of experience.

    The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a social worker for the Looking Ahead program to provide supportive counseling services for program youth, families and alumni in both individual and group settings. Social worker will also provide educational and transitional support services to program members, will facilitate in person and virtual program events, and may be called upon to provide mental health services on tv, film, commercial and theater sets and productions.

    This is currently a hybrid position with the requirement of working 2 full days a week in our Los Angeles office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Looking Ahead social worker will engage with a wide variety of individuals, couples and families in a clinical process that facilitates the development of assessment and treatment plans. This includes clinical case management, mental health and educational support and serving as a liaison for other additional resources. Social worker will address issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations and other mental health and developmental issues prevalent in youth professional performers.

    Social worker will provide services to support participants education and career development and their transition to adulthood. They will also facilitate clinical, psychoeducational, affinity and support groups, as well as develop seminars and training that directly address the needs of the community of child actors. May also be called upon to provide crisis intervention services to entertainment professionals in professional theater productions and on tv and film sets. Will conduct program outreach to industry stakeholders through in person and virtual presentations.

    This position will work as part of a dynamic team to provide a calendar of program events throughout the month for program members, parents and alumni. Will also serve as a mentor to program youth to assist in the mission supporting youth manage the challenges of the entertainment industry and make successful transitions to adulthood.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree in social work from an accredited School of Social Work; state licensure is strongly preferred.
    • Minimum two years post graduate experience working with youth in a mental health, educational or enrichment programming.
    • Experience providing clinical support to address suicidal ideation, eating disorders, substance abuse and other challenges that impact an individual and family system.
    • Demonstrates strong clinical and engagement skills. Compassionate and warm person that is able to create and maintain positive relationships.
    • High level of emotional intelligence and social skills to work with and provide support to individuals of various ages and presentations.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and other agencies.
    • Ability to provide all services to clients and stakeholders in person and virtually.
    • Ability to be self-motivated.
    • An unrevoked driver’s license, valid in California, and access to a vehicle.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Ability to work irregular hours, including minimum of one evening per month and a minimum of three weekends per month.
    • Ability to attend and participate in, with or without reasonable accommodation, a range of indoor and outdoor physical activities (e.g. paintball, laser tag, amusement parks and beach volleyball) in order to sufficiently supervise the program participants.

     

    PREFERRED QUALITIES

    • LCSW preferred.
    • Minimum two years’ experience with vocational/educational/career counseling of youth ages 9-18. Previous experience with after school programming or summer camps is highly valued. Additional vocational, educational or career services with adults is highly desired.
    • Minimum one year providing counseling services to youth and their parents/guardians.
    • Knowledge of CSU/UC and community college systems.
    • Previous experience in after school programming.
    • Experience and/or understanding of entertainment industry.
    • Two years of relevant event planning work experience.
