    Assemblyman Gary Schaer was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in November 2005 and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee. He is a member of the Appropriations and Budget Committees, as well as the NJ-Israel Commission. Assemblyman Schaer is also the Deputy Speaker and Policy Chair of the Assembly. He has previously served as Chairman of the Budget Committee and Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee. Assemblyman Schaer is the first and only Orthodox Jew to serve in the New Jersey State Legislature.
