About Us
The Wayne County Public Defender's Office is a County Department that has existed since 1965. We provide high-quality, client-centered, legal representation to individuals facing criminal charges who are unable to afford an attorney.
We strive to address not only the facts of our client's case, but issues underlying each client's situation. With the goal of avoiding future entanglements in the criminal justice system, we often refer clients to appopriate treatment and other community resources and undertake collateral representation when needed. We energetically advocate for a just disposition of each case and seek to protect the constitutional rights of individuals and thereby,the community.
