Pleasanton Reads: Pleasanton Public Library Adult Literacy and ESL Services

An outreach program of Pleasanton Public Library, Pleasanton Reads: Adult Literacy / ESL Services offers free English conversation practice and individual or small-group English language tutoring, English conversation practice, and book clubs for adult learners.

The Literacy Services Team trains volunteers to work with adults from the community:

·        native English speakers needing to improve basic literacy skills such as reading, writing, and comprehension

·        adults who are learning English-as-a-second-language (ESL) and need reading, writing, speaking, and cultural instruction

Sponsored by a grant from the California State Library and supported by the City of Pleasanton, Pleasanton Reads provides all necessary training and materials for participants. Volunteers are asked to commit to work with an English learner for 90 minutes weekly for a minimum of six months.
