The MRCA Residential Outdoor Education Program provides a safe, challenging, fun, and dynamic experience for 5th and 6th graders from throughout Southern California. Our five-day programs at King Gillette Ranch occur Monday morning to Friday afternoon including lessons, activities, and hikes. Three-day programs for smaller schools occur at Temescal Gateway Park. The goal of the program is to create a deep nature connection between students and their “Big Backyard” of local parks. The Mountains Recreation and Conservation
Authority is a local government agency founded in 1985. Our mission is to complement the work of
other agencies protecting land in the mountains of Southern California by using
our unique ability to acquire and improve parkland, afford educational
opportunities, and provide access to, and stewardship for, a wide variety of
public park and open space amenities.
