New York State Unified Court System, Office for Justice Initiatives

  • About Us

The mission of the Office for Justice Initiatives (OJI) is to ensure meaningful access to justice for those passing through the doors of every New York State civil, criminal and family court - regardless of income, background or special need, in accordance with NYS Chief Judge Janet DiFiore’s Excellence Initiative. The OJI was established in July 2017 to provide leadership and oversight for NYS’s Unified Court System justice-based initiatives, including the pre-existing Access to Justice Program. We continue to use every resource developed by the Access to Justice Program, including pro bono programs, self-help services, and technological tools and outreach programs throughout New York State’s 62 counties.
