    Description

    DLBHICKS LLC is fundraising consulting practice providing planning, training, consulting and management services to nonprofit organizations. Our core practices and competencies include foundation and corporate grants, major gift/capital campaigns and development planning. You can learn more about the firm at www.dlbhicks.com.

    We are seeking an Associate to support the firm’s Principal on client projects. In doing so, s/he will gain:

    • Exposure to a variety of nonprofit clients and their diverse challenges.
    • Experience in core fundraising skills such as grant writing, communications, research, data management and planning
    • The opportunity to work with seasoned nonprofit staff and volunteer leaders
    • Encouragement and expectation of professional growth and development.
    • Increased responsibility with time and experience.

    Initially, the Associate will:

    • Draft grant applications and proposals
    • Conduct prospect research
    • Help prepare client presentations and reports
    • Communicate with client staff to collect materials, organize meetings, and distribute information
    • Document client meetings and help coordinate/execute follow up
    • Handle relevant administrative tasks (e.g. mailing, filing)

    Ultimately, the Associate will grow to take on client projects and work independently.

    Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, a record of academic excellence, and should demonstrate interest in the nonprofit sector. Highly qualified candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates should also meet most or all the following criteria:

    • A high degree of organization and attention to detail
    • Ability to think strategically
    • Intellectual curiosity
    • Analytical capacity
    • Comfort working in a casual, deadline-driven environment
    • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and deadlines
    • High degree of self-motivation; ability to work independently
    • Facility with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn and use research databases (Foundation Directory Online and DonorSearch)
