From our offices in Oakland (CA), Seattle (WA), and some remote employees, we serve clients across the country and abroad.

At Cascadia, we strive to create an equitable and inclusive environment at all levels of the organization. Having staff and partnerships that reflect the diverse communities we serve empowers us to shape innovative and effective solutions together with those most impacted by social, human, and environmental health challenges.

    Position Overview:

Cascadia Consulting Group is seeking a Graphic Design Project Coordinator to work as a core member of Cascadia’s creative services team, using graphic design, document layout, and production skills to develop effective, inclusive marketing and outreach materials that meet audiences where they are. The selected candidate will work as part of a small, talented group of creative professionals supporting projects focused on circular economy, sustainable transportation, natural resource management, climate change, and community resilience. Candidates should be familiar with—or willing to learn about—how to comply with federal ADA Accessibility requirements for print and digital documents.

This position will also provide as-needed support to Cascadia’s marketing and business development efforts, including graphic design for marketing materials, proposals, and presentations.

Examples of everyday tasks may include:

    • Designing attractive, accessible, branded templates in Word, PPT, and InDesign for use by project teams.
    • Testing and remediating PDF documents to comply with ADA Accessibility standards.
    • Collaborating with project teams to conceptualize, design, and produce outreach and engagement materials, such as postcards, factsheets, posters, and flyers.
    • Applying fundamental design principles to make plans and reports more readable and engaging.
    • Performing final formatting and clean-up in Word, PPT, and InDesign to support quality assurance on a wide range of deliverables.
    • Supporting colleagues in learning and applying best practices in their design and development of work products.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience designing print and digital work products that meet specific design specifications, quality standards, client expectations, and/or other communication goals.
    • Motivated by Cascadia’s mission to inspire and empower communities everywhere to protect and restore our world in an equitable and inclusive way.
    • Ability to ask questions and get clarity on clients’ and team members’ primary goals and desires to incorporate their vision into finished work products.
    • Ability to adapt design strategy and efforts to match the time and budget that is available.
    • Comfort working both independently and as part of large and small teams.
    • Appreciation for honest, timely feedback—both reinforcing and constructive.
    • Skill in prioritizing tasks and maintaining focus across multiple projects/clients/teams, often with competing deadlines.
    • Willingness to request assistance or delegate tasks when needed to ensure a healthy and balanced workload.
    • Familiarity with best practices for ADA accessible, user-oriented design, and willingness to advocate for design options that meet the needs of under-served audiences.
    • Familiarity and comfort with developing inclusive designs that speak to audiences representing diverse cultures, languages, and demographics. This includes facilitating and implementing transcreation for non-English speaking communities.
    • Advanced skill in Adobe Creative Suite—particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
    • Intermediate skill in MS Office—particularly Word and PowerPoint—and willingness to learn.
    • Patience, humor, and a healthy dose of self-awareness.
    • Experience writing copy for a variety of formats which may include presentations, social media content, postcards, factsheets, posters, and flyers.
