StepStone is a founding signatory to the ILPA Diversity in Action Initiative, which serves as a means for GPs and LPs to publicly acknowledge their commitment to take concrete steps to advance diversity, equity and inclusion, both within their organization and the industry more broadly. Diversity in Action signatories undertake four essential DEI actions and at least two additional actions, from an optional set of nine. The Diversity in Action framework includes a broad range of actions spanning talent management, investment management and industry engagement.

In addition, we proactively network with minority organizations at universities and business schools to develop a pipeline of minority candidates for consideration. We also participate in industry groups created to improve diversity among private markets professionals, such as the Private Equity Women Investor Network, the National Association of Investment Professionals, the Association of Asian American Investment Managers, and the New America Alliance. We are also a key sponsor partner to Access Distributed, which focuses on expanding access to careers in finance and entrepreneurship for undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds. 

Lastly, StepStone proactively identifies opportunities to engage, facilitate relationships with, and provide mentoring to women and minorities interested in private equity and private markets. This process involves internal programs as well as supporting outside organizations that share these goals. StepStone has also established a "Diversity and Inclusion Network" that puts on regional and global events for employees to cultivate a positive and cohesive work environment. The network includes organizations such as the National Association of Investment Professionals, the Association of Asian American Investment Managers, WAVE, Girls who Invest, Sponsors for Education Opportunity, PE WIN, Level 20, and the New America Alliance.
