Mariposa Food Co-op, located in the Cedar Park neighborhood of West Philadelphia, has been providing its members access to healthy, locally-grown, and sustainably-produced food since 1971. We have grown from a buying club of a few dozen members to a full-service storefront that is open every day of the week, with more than 1,500 members.
Mariposa has always been a business owned and run by its members, governed by consensus decision-making, and operated according to the principles of the International Cooperative Movement.
In March of 2012, Mariposa Food Co-op opened a new store in the same neighborhood, five times the size of it’s previous location! The new store offers an expanded selection of locally produced, organic, and conventional products, including meat. The newly-renovated building is spacious, wheelchair accessible, and open seven days a week.
In the interests of providing increased access to healthy and sustainably-produced foods in the neighborhood, the co-op is now fully open to the public. While you don't have to be a member to shop, member-owners do receive certain benefits. To read more about the Co-op visit: http:www.mariposa.coop
