About Us
The Dorchester Food Coop is a startup Food Co-op in Dorchester, Boston's largest and most diverse neighborhood. The mission of the Dorchester Food Co-op is to challenge the traditional food system by building a community and worker-owned asset that nourishes, employs, and reinvests in the local community. We have developed a vision of a community and worker owned cooperative market that will build community wealth and power through ownership and employment, provide access to affordable healthy food, and work with partners to strengthen a locally-controlled food system. We are centering racial equity in all our work, and are led by a majority BIPOC Board of Directors.
We now have over 1000 household member-owners, a site that is under construction, and are scheduled to open the new coop in the summer of 2022.
