    Overview

    The Center on Violence and Recovery (CVR) is dedicated to advancing knowledge on the causes and consequences of violence and trauma, and developing solutions that foster healing among individuals, families, and communities. We innovate by developing cutting-edge solutions to promote healing and transformation, study by conducting research on critical issues related to trauma and restoration, and educate by offering trainings, workshops, and lectures on topics related to trauma and healing.

    CVR is seeking an energetic and well-organized self-starter looking to work for a small academic research center, specifically to help advance our work on restorative justice and domestic violence and to develop a national strategy. The ideal candidate will be a creative, independent, flexible, collegial, and detail-oriented person with interests in research, program development, outreach, and community-based work. The Assistant Research Scientist/Program Coordinator is a member of the CVR team. The Assistant Research Scientist/Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the organization, implementation and evaluation of restorative programs in ten designated communities. The Program Coordinator will lead on-the-ground efforts, develop resources, analyze program data, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful program outcomes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    75% - Research project management, organizational support, research program development, outreach, education, and training

    Program Management: Support on-the-ground efforts for all restorative programs within the assigned communities. Provide support and assistance to program staff and leadership team. Ensure adherence to established protocols and procedures.

    Organizational Support: Support logistical aspects via staffing calls, booking grant-funded travel, managing community-based events and travel, managing online platforms and forums, entering notes in online systems, sending follow-up meetings with partners, ensuring community deadlines are met, and following up with agreed upon next steps.

    Resource Development: Develop and curate a comprehensive library of resources and materials based on qualitative data analysis and best practices. These resources should support the implementation and evaluation of restorative programs.

    Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret program data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement via feedback forms and surveys. Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing program evaluations and findings for internal and external stakeholders.

    Program Improvement: Develop and implement strategies for continuous program improvement based on data analysis and stakeholder feedback. Identify opportunities to enhance program outcomes and expand program reach.

    Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with program staff, community partners, and other stakeholders. Facilitate collaborative partnerships to ensure smooth program execution.

    Evaluation: Conduct regular program evaluations to assess progress towards goals and objectives. Use evaluation findings to inform program adjustments and improvements.

    25% - Communications

    Assist with maintaining the CVR website, and managing CVR’s social media presence;

    Coordinate the flow of information between CVR and our project partners;

    Assist with the hiring and supervising of student workers;

    Engage in special projects.

    Engage in event planning and coordination

    Additional Information: This is a one-year fixed-term position. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the compensation for this position is $70,000 - $74,000 .     Qualifications

    Required:

    Bachelors or Masters degree in a social service related field.

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management.

    Strong understanding of social justice principles and practices, or social justice advocacy experience.

    Proven ability to support teams.

    Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred:

    Experience with qualitative research methods.

    Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising.

    Bilingual or multilingual skills.

    This position requires strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for restorative justice and committed to creating positive change in the community.
