    Nationalities Service Center (NSC) serves more than 5,000 immigrants and refugees each year from over 110 countries. We provide comprehensive services in immigration law matters, community transition and integration, access to health and wellness, language access and proficiency, and job readiness training for immigrants and refugees.     Job Summary/Definition:

    The Development & Communications Associate contributes to key development processes and the organization’s external communications efforts. This individual will contribute to the success of NSC’s fundraising efforts by operationalizing best-in-class fundraising and communications practices. The Development & Communications Associate will assist in donor relations, board relations, prospect research, and communications. With an eye toward detail and a desire to outperform expectations, the Development & Communications Associate will play a key role in ensuring NSC has the resources necessary to support newcomers upon arrival in America.

    Job Duties:

    Donor Relations

    1. Work collaboratively with the development and finance teams to acknowledge donations through both tax documentation and expressions of gratitude.
    2. Work with the development team to advance donor relationships utilizing a Moves Management framework
    3. Contribute to the creation and execution of donor engagement events.
    4. Work with the development team to analyze donor data to inform plans, processes, and practices.
    5. Engage with current or potential donors through engagement events or when information is requested.

    Board Relations

    1. Staff board meetings, schedule committee meetings, and document both board and committee meetings, as requested.
    2. Partner with Development Committee Chair to ensure annual payment of board dues.
    3. Work with individual board members encourage participation in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.

    Prospect Research

    1. Conduct donor research to inform cultivation and stewardship efforts.
    2. Working with the development team, use donor data and prospect research to identify opportunities for revenue growth and network expansion.
    3. Communicate identified prospects to board for exploration and action.

    Communications

    1. Draft copy for use in digital and print assets.
    2. Contribute to external communications efforts, to include social media, the organization’s website, and regular donor communications.
    3. Identify opportunities for segmented donor communications to increase revenue.
    4. Work with the development team to guide cultivation and stewardship efforts of organizational leaders.

    Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

    • A commitment to NSC’s mission and a belief that immigrants strengthen communities.
    • Exceptional abilities in relationship management and written communications.
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Familiarity with approaches to fundraising and network engagement.
    • Preferred Qualities: Attentive to detail; process oriented; proactive; strategic; efficient; communicative; curious; dependable; creative; flexible; collaborative.

    Experience, Education, and Licensure:

    Minimum Experience: 2+ years of development and/or communications experience in a non-profit environment.

    Minimum Education: BA/BS from an accredited university.

    Compensation: The position is full-time. Salary is commensurate with experience.

    1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    2. Although work is primarily indoors, you may be required to travel outside to client and community locations.
    3. Travel in and around NSC’s service delivery area to support clients’ access to services.
