    Description

    The Public Interest Network

    Membership & Engagement Administrator

    Denver, CO

The Public Interest Network is hiring a Membership and Engagement Administrator to oversee the schedule and strategy for keeping the citizen members of the groups in our network of environmental and public interest organizations involved and engaged in our campaign work. The Public Interest Network operates more than a dozen organizations committed to a shared vision of a better world, a set of core values, and a strategic approach to social change, including PIRG, Environment America, Green Corps, and the National Environmental Law Center.

    Key Responsibilities

As Member Engagement Administrator you will oversee our fundraising schedule and member engagement strategy, including:

    • Enhance our members’ connection with our work: Oversee ongoing content to build our members’ affinity, including updates like letters, newsletters, and emails. Ensure content is well written and going out as scheduled.
    • Membership tracking and reporting: Report and evaluate current member engagement strategies.
    • Oversee the schedule: Maintain and improve the plan for how and when we interact with our members and donors, and review lists to ensure we are following that plan.

    Qualifications

Entry-level candidates with a passion for our issues, mission, and values and a strong desire to build a better world with their life are encouraged to apply. To be effective in this role, you need to be goal-driven, detail-oriented and highly organized, with the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information. A top candidate will have these qualities:

    • Driven by the missions of The Public Interest Network, Environment America, and PIRG.
    • Smart and detail-oriented: You can keep track of multiple plans, and are not afraid of using spreadsheets to better understand and organize the information you’re looking at.
    • Curiosity: You look at a report and wonder why that is and what you might want to try differently next time.
    • Excellent writing skills: You can write clearly and compellingly, whether that’s to members to thank them for their donations or to your co-worker to ask them to send you the update you need.
    • You’re fired up about the idea of building a nonprofit organization behind the scenes, and have an appreciation of the importance of organizing and citizen members.

    Compensation and Benefits

The target annual compensation for this entry level position is $38,180. The Public Interest Network offers an excellent benefits package. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, paid time off, a commuter benefit program, a 401(k) plan with employer match, parental leave, long term disability insurance, and may include needs-based student loan assistance. We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.

    About The Public Interest Network

The Public Interest Network operates and supports more than a dozen organizations – including PIRG, Environment America and their state affiliates – committed to a shared vision of a better world and a strategic approach to change.

Our work focuses on the problems that arise from America’s single-minded pursuit of endless economic growth: We’re still burning fossil fuels even though it’s changing the climate. We keep giving antibiotics to healthy livestock, even though it leads to “superbugs” that are antibiotic-resistant. We use plastic products for a few minutes only to throw them away so they pollute the oceans for centuries.

And our approach is unique: We focus on the big picture, but are relentlessly pragmatic and prioritize making a difference in people’s lives over making a statement. We work with everybody to make change happen, political ideology aside, championing good ideas wherever they come from. And we are serious about the work – we set clear goals, benchmarks and systems to measure our progress, and hold ourselves accountable to making change now and building for the future.

This unique approach gives our staff an opportunity to make a concrete difference for the environment and the public interest – just as hundreds of dedicated staff have done over our 50 year history. If you want to add to this change-making legacy; if you have the passion and the drive that it takes; if you're looking for a mission, not just a job – then let’s talk.
