    Description

    The Development Director is part of an engaged work environment with feminist spirit and dedication to CWHC’s mission and the people it serves. This full-time, hybrid role works closely with CWHC’s Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Program Directors to guide the organization to long-term financial sustainability. The Development Director leads the Development team, which includes the Development Coordinator, Communications and Volunteer Coordinator, and Development interns.

    The Development Director develops and manages effective fundraising strategies through grant proposals, individual solicitation, special events, corporate support, and direct response solicitation. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated person who can work both collaboratively and independently to foster the growth of CWHC. They can think creatively and strategically about fundraising strategies while maintaining the Development Program’s high standard of attention to detail.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising
    • Demonstrated excellence in solicitation of foundations, individual donors, and grant writing
    • Demonstrated success in information management and project management
    • Experience with donor software programs preferred
    • Experience with staff or intern supervision preferred
    • Budget planning and financial management experience a plus

    Skills

    • Ability and desire to manage and lead a plan for scaling up fundraising activities and impact
    • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple assignments with accuracy and attention to detail, as well as prioritizing and meeting deadlines
    • Excellent writing and editing skills, proven experience in crafting successful proposals and other donor correspondence is preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in a wide variety of contexts
    • Ability to work both independently with a minimum of supervision and effectively in a team environment
    • Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and constituent database
    • Understanding and interest in participating as a leader in a modified collective structure

    Benefits

    Two to three workdays per week may be done remotely as arranged with the Executive Directors and Development team. Benefits include health insurance and generous paid time off.
