    Position Summary:

    The Finance and Operations Manager will oversee RISE’s financial management and daily operational functions to ensure smooth, transparent, and effective administration of resources. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role will play a crucial part in budgeting, compliance, and operational planning to strengthen our organization’s impact. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in nonprofit finance, with expertise in QuickBooks Online, BILL.com, and Gusto. This position requires an individual who is detail-oriented, strategic, and passionate about working with marginalized communities impacted by gun violence.

    This position is full-time from January 2025 to June 2025 with an annual salary of $100,000. From July to December 2025, the position will transition to part-time with a salary of $50,000 annually. Benefits are limited during the part-time period. Continuation of this position is contingent upon successful outcomes during the initial contract period.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Finance Management

    • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure alignment with RISE’s mission and strategic goals.
    • Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online, ensuring timely tracking of expenses, income, and overall cash flow.
    • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and financial metrics, for board and funders.
    • Manage grant tracking, compliance, and reporting for multiple funding sources to ensure adherence to donor restrictions and program guidelines.
    • Process payroll in Gusto, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations and benefit allocations.
    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, managing bills and reimbursements through BILL.com.

    Operations & Compliance

    • Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations relevant to nonprofit organizations.
    • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement processes, balancing cost-effectiveness with high-quality services.
    • Support HR functions including onboarding, employee records management, and benefits administration.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director on risk management and insurance policy administration.

    Organizational Support & Team Collaboration

    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership and program staff to inform decision-making.
    • Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of organizational goals, working closely with the leadership team.
    • Act as a resource for staff in understanding budgeting processes, expense tracking, and financial best practices.
    • Support fundraising efforts by preparing financial data for grant applications, donor reporting, and impact metrics.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit finance management, with strong knowledge of GAAP for nonprofits.
    • Proven proficiency in QuickBooks Online, BILL.com, and Gusto.
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit compliance, grant management, and financial reporting.
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
    • Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
    • Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to convey complex financial information clearly and accessibly.
    • Commitment to RISE’s mission and values, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by communities of color and marginalized populations.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    This position will be full-time from January to June 2025, with a salary of $100,000 annually. From July to December 2025, it will transition to a part-time role with a salary of $50,000 annually, with limited benefits during the part-time period. Continuation of this position is contingent upon successful outcomes during the initial contract period.
