    Why do we need a Senior Vice President of Campaigns?

    WorkMoney is a young, vibrant, growing organization. As we grow, one of our top priorities is to expand our efforts to advance policy change at the federal and state level that will improve the financial well-being of our members. We are looking for an experienced and effective campaigns strategist to design and lead our policy and electoral campaign efforts. We are a fast-paced start-up and are looking for an experienced professional who can effectively manage competing demands, collaborate to achieve results and independently lead with confidence and integrity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a track record of successfully leading policy and electoral campaigns – from inception to victory – and has the skills and experience to build and lead a high impact campaigns team.

    A typical day in the life of our Senior Vice President of Campaigns could look like:

    • Campaign Strategy
      • With the support of the policy team, identify emergent or existing federal, state policy and local campaign opportunities that will improve the financial well-being of WorkMoney members, raise the voice of everyday Americans and heighten organizational brand.
      • Identify federal and state electoral campaign opportunities in support of candidates who will fight for the financial well-being of everyday Americans.
      • Design campaign strategies by positioning WorkMoney appropriately (as initiator or supporter), identifying desired outcomes, developing a robust suite of campaign tactics, and matching financial and staff resources to campaign plans.
    • Campaign Execution
      • Oversee and coordinate the execution of campaign strategies and plans with the field, policy and communications teams, to ensure staff time, organizational resources and campaign tactics drive toward desired outcomes and achieve maximum impact.
      • Anticipate and attend to internal and external risks and roadblocks that may impact campaign effectiveness.
      • Partner with other leaders, teams and consultants – in particular the marketing and communications team and the member services team - to ensure the effective deployment of campaign tactics, aligned messaging, and effective implementation of policy wins.
    • Department Management
      • Lead and manage the campaigns department, which includes the field team; the policy, research and government affairs team; and the electoral team.
      • Provide professional development, coaching and mentorship to direct reports and department staff.
      • Develop and implement department cohesion, alignment and communication strategies.
      • Create and manage the campaigns department budget.
    • External Relations
      • Foster and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders to stay informed about allies’ priorities and strategies and identify opportunities for collaboration.
      • Act as a key WorkMoney ambassador, presenting at conferences and attending external meetings and events as needed.
    • Organizational Leadership
      • Engage in cross-organizational strategizing, planning, budgeting and problem-solving as a member of the program leadership team.
      • Contribute to fundraising efforts by attending meetings with donors and contributing to donor proposals and reports.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Mission & Values Alignment. You are inspired by the WorkMoney mission and are passionate about advancing economic fairness and opportunity. You are deeply committed to meaningfully improving the financial well-being of everyday Americans and will partner with stakeholders from across the political spectrum – whether on the political right or left – to fulfill that goal.
    • Campaign Strategy & Execution. You eat, sleep and breathe campaigns. You bring a wealth of campaigning experience and have highly developed policy and electoral campaign strategy and execution skills. You have been responsible for designing and overseeing the full life cycle of campaigns and use creativity and innovation to develop and deploy the full suite of campaign tactics, including offline and online organizing, targeted communications, legislative and regulatory lobbying, direct action, etc. You can point to campaign victories and losses and identify lessons from each and are hungry to design and lead campaigns that will meaningfully improve the financial well-being of everyday Americans for a growing national organization.
    • Department Management. You have experience managing staff as part of a collaborative team and rallying a team around shared goals. You have a track record of partnering with staff to develop and manage to clear team and individual work plans and effectively deploying team talent. You know when to celebrate success and when to course correct and do both regularly and with curiosity and grace. You are committed to professional development and can demonstrate success in developing the skills and knowledge of department staff.
    • Cross-Organizational Leadership. You have held roles that required leadership across the whole of an organization. You demonstrate an understanding of the unique functions within an organization and an ability to drive projects and decisions across different teams. You have a track record of contributing to a mission-centric and impact-driven culture that supports cross-functional collaboration, innovation, direct communication, and inclusivity. You have experience with annual planning, budgeting and fundraising.
    • Analytical Thinking & Judgment. You have experience working effectively in ambiguous, fast–paced, highly dynamic environments. You use strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to identify and address root causes, and you have a track record of being on the right side of tough judgment calls by carefully assessing complex situations, weighing all options and making humane, just and impact-driven decisions.
    • Communication & Relationship Building. You have a demonstrated track record of building relationships that support individual and collective ability to grow, thrive, and work effectively together. You embody a growth mindset, approach your relationships and work with a learning orientation, and continuously seek to improve your work and the work of the organization. You possess a deep appreciation for diversity, equity and inclusion and seek to bring people together along lines of difference. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and thrive on direct, honest, and supportive communication. You have a high comfort level with technology and use it effectively to communicate ideas and plans.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with and organizing people across the political spectrum.
    • Experience with corporate campaigns.
    • Experience working with unionized workforces.

    As part of our commitment to pay transparency and equity in our organization, the starting salary for this position is $225,000 - $245,000.
