Women Aware, Inc.

Women Aware is the designated domestic violence service agency for Middlesex County, NJ. Since 1979, we have provided free, confidential, trauma-informed services to victims of domestic violence.

The primary access point to services is our 24-hour Hotline, answered by multilingual staff. We assess each case, including the need for emergency shelter, and make referrals to programs at Women Aware and resources in the community.

Our emergency shelter is a state-licensed, 24-bed, handicap-accessible, child-proofed building staffed and monitored 24/7. Our staff works closely with each family to address their legal, financial, medical, emotional and educational needs. Our Legal Advocates assist clients in obtaining restraining orders against their abusers. We provide individual, group and family counseling, including creative arts therapy to reduce trauma symptoms in children. In everything we do, our goal is to help victims, their families and our community to move beyond abuse.
