The Community Water Center (CWC) acts as a catalyst for community-driven water solutions in California's San Joaquin Valley through organizing, education, and advocacy.
Today, in California, hundreds of thousands of families do not have access to safe drinking water in their homes, schools, or workplaces, and this issue disproportionately affects small, rural, low-income communities and communities of color in the Central Valley. The Community Water Center works to build grassroots capacity to address these water challenges in an equitable and sustainable way. We seek to build and enhance leadership capacity and local community power around water issues, create a regional movement for water justice in the Valley, and enable every community to have access to safe, clean, and affordable drinking water.
CWC employs three primary strategies in order to accomplish our goals:
At CWC, we believe that safe, clean, and affordable water is a human right, not a privilege. Our organizing and advocacy work, community collaborations, and organizational culture all reflect a concern for equality, mutual respect, appreciation for diversity, and environmental and social justice.
