EarthRights International is a nonprofit group of activists, organizers, and lawyers with expertise in human rights, the environment, and corporate and government accountability. Earth rights are those rights that demonstrate the connection between human well-being and a sound environment, and include the right to a healthy environment, the right to speak out and act to protect the environment, and the right to participate in development decisions. EarthRights' programs are designed to meet the following goals:
1) To investigate, monitor, and expose human rights and environmental abuses occurring in the name of development;
2) To increase transparency and accountability of governments, transnational corporations, and international financial institutions;
3) To protect individuals and communities at work defending the earth; and
4) To ensure biodiversity, conservation, and ecological integrity.
