  • About Us

MCE Social Capital (MCE) is an impact investing firm that provides flexible capital to enterprises committed to generating sustainable livelihoods in emerging markets–with a focus on women and the environment–to allow these enterprises to scale and better serve their customers, their employees, and their communities. Since 2006, MCE has disbursed over $350 million in debt capital to 160 institutions in 49 countries throughout the developing world. Together with the MCE Empowering Sustainable Agriculture (MESA) Fund launched in 2023, MCE’s total assets under management exceeded $95M at the end of 2024.

    MCE invests across two portfolios:

    • Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) in the “missing middle” that create jobs, help smallholder farmers improve productivity and income, and facilitate clean water and energy.
    • Financial Service Providers (FSPs) such as microfinance institutions, fintech and other financial service providers that help people living in rural areas gain access to credit, savings, insurance, and business education.

MCE is a growing, dynamic organization with hubs in Washington DC, Barcelona, Spain, and Nairobi, Kenya.
