Jage Kastare Foundation is a community learning
centre working on promoting educational development, cultural preservation, and
arts appreciation for kids and teenagers at Ungge village. Our activities and
programs are designed to get the students to having a broader view about the
world around them and preventing them from feeling inferior. Helping the
students believe in their potentials, making them motivated in learning and be
confident about themselves are some first goals to achieve. Raising their
awareness to love the village and act on what needs to be done in social and
environmental fronts is also our long term goal. The implementations can be
seen in the program. One of them is English language teaching. The purpose is
not only to prepare them to be more ready for their future aspirations where
English is likely to be a part of them. It is more importantly a tool to
introduce global understanding and tolerance. Through the language, we teach
global geography, diversity among us, and that we are all should be positive
about it. We invite people from all over the world to share stories and
interact in English with the kids. It’s not only an authentic language learning
experience but also a way of promoting understanding among people and boosting
their confidence in communication.
