Being an educator is not limited to a traditional classroom setting. Many students have been inspired by their work in community agencies, outdoor education programs and summer enrichment initiatives to seek full-time employment as educators in non-school settings.
Increasingly schools and other youth-serving agencies are collaborating to support students learning both inside and outside of schools.

The Children's Museum in Boston provides a rich hands-on learning environment used by families and schools throughout Massachusetts. The museum has numerous partnerships with schools and teachers and is
considered one of the nation's leaders in museum education for children. They often have summer and permanent jobs available. There are children's museums across the
globe providing creative and innovative learning opportunities for children, families and classrooms.
Eckerd Youth Alternatives is a network of early intervention, wilderness camp and juvenile justice programs for troubled youth. Eckerd employs youth counselors, teachers and social service professionals at
sites in the eastern U.S.
Summerbridge is a 2-4 year tuition-free academic program for motivated elementary and middle school students offering enrichment services and support at 40 sites across the country. Summerbridge hires
high school and college students as well as recent college graduates for positions in the summer and during the year.
YouthBuild is a youth and community development program as well as an alternative school. YouthBuild offers job training, education, counseling, and leadership development opportunities to unemployed and
out-of-school young adults, ages 16-24, through the construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing. Youth Build hires staff to operates nearly 100 programs in over 40 states.
Organizations such as YMCAs and Boys and Girls Clubs offer critical after-school programs and support to children and families.
