Why does my group or organization have to maintain a profile on Idealist? Can we just provide a link to our website?

We ask that organizations fill out the registration form (profile) as completely as possible even if this information may be included on your own website. Why? Because Idealist's users find group or nonprofit organizations through the Idealist search engine which searches for organizations by keyword, location, area of interest, and so on. If your profile is not complete, then your record will not turn up in Idealist searches.
