Adding search results and banners to your blog or website
Date: December 1, 4:24pm
Hello Idealist Spreaders!

I want to make you aware of two convenient ways you can Spread Idealist on your blog, website, and social networking profiles.

First, we offer some spiffy buttons, banners, and logos here: http://www.idealist.org/en/about/site/logos.html. We've got everything from tiny buttons to print-sized logos. They're free to use; just right-click and save to your computer.

My favorite tool for spreading Idealist is our Idealist Badge. An Idealist Badge is a great way to add a dynamic set of idealist listings to your webpage. To get one, do a search on Idealist for the criteria you want to show on your website. If you have a blog about poverty, you could search for volunteer opportunities that match the keyword "poverty". Once you get to the search results, you'll see a link that says "Add this search to your site". This tool allows you to pick a badge type and gives you the HTML code to paste into your page. It will continually update with the most recent listings that match your criteria. It's pretty sweet!

If you have any questions about either of those resources, reply to this thread or drop me an Idealist message. I'll be happy to help.

This is awesome! I will look into putting this onto our site - http://teagal.com - that has a synergistic mission to Idealist. It is about helping people help other people with advice and mentoring. I see that there is a Facebook group that I joined. Are there meetings of local groups? I live in San Francisco. I would love to meet up with others that share a common goal of being of use to others.

Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Raj

Hi Raj,

There aren't any meetings for this group, but I encourage you to search Idealist Groups (http://idealist.org/groups) and Events (http://www.idealist.org/if/as/Event/evt) in your area and I'm sure you'll find something interesting.

Thanks for your support and good luck with your website!

Joanna

Check out Idealist's spiffy new logo! To go with the new design, we have new banners and buttons that you can download for use on your own website, blog, MySpace, etc.

Get them here: http://www.idealist.org/en/about/site/logos.html

Hello,

Just wanted to know if it's ok to add the feed for a search - I'd like to add Volunteers - to our twitter account? Are there restrictions on how to use your search feeds? Thanks!

Hi Marita,

Sure, you can use our search feed on your Twitter account, but please indicate that it's from @idealist. That's a great idea and we were thinking of adding our own Twitter feed for volunteer opportunities in the future. Thanks!
