What is telemarketing? How do we do it? Telemarketing is using primarily the telephone (and sometimes other electronic means) to promote programs and services to funders and clients.
Is telemarketing generally a useful fundraising strategy? Telemarketing can be a very useful strategy.
What are the key advantages and disadvantages of hiring a telemarketing firm versus using volunteers? The key advantage is that you may not have to lift a finger! The key disadvantage is that many firms take a percentage of each donation.
What are the disadvantages of using a telemarketing firm? The key disadvantage to using telemarketing firms is the percentage of each pledged donation which they collect as a fee.
What about equipment for telemarketing? Training? Etc? Find a friendly stock or real estate brokerage firm for phone equipment and look for consultants to train callers or trainers.
What laws apply to telemarketing? The Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Telemarketing Sales Rule may both apply here.
