What are the disadvantages of using a telemarketing firm?

Summary:

The key disadvantage to using telemarketing firms is the percentage of each pledged donation which they collect as a fee.

Answer:

A local _____ Club used paid telemarketers and loved it because they
hardly had to lift a finger. What's wrong with that?

Ina Frank:

That's why, as we say in trite-land, there's chocolate and vanilla.

However, 1) How much more might they have made with just a little
effort? Instead of a small fraction of the total pledges, they could
have had almost the whole amount.

2) I would not advise a ____ Club to pay a telemarketer, when the kids
who participate and their parents are so very credible.

Even though most of us work, almost every household -- even in the inner
cities -- can provide one body for 2 hours on a weekend morning or
weekday evening to help secure the longterm benefits of this sort of
connection.
