Mission:
OPEN HAND THEATER welcomes people to the art of mask and puppetry.
Theater is live art. Our mission is to connect the ancient art and ritual of mask and puppetry with contemporary life. The theater explores the concerns of our technologically advanced culture through the wisdom of myth and fantasy.
OPEN HAND THEATER strives to make a positive difference in the lives of our participants and audience, both young and old.
The theater fosters an appreciation of the art of Mask and Puppetry by producing original theater pieces that draw from historical and modern mask
traditions from around the world. We encourage research into the history and ethnology of mask and puppet theater. We produce art shows, educational materials, workshops and experimental performances for the public.
OPEN HAND THEATER works both as a professional theater and a community theater, exploring new ways of working collaboratively, involving
both the fine arts and the folk arts.
