Job Function:
The manager of development is responsible for daily interactions with current and prospective donors including cultivation grant writing, preparing reports and representing The Washington Center to constituency groups.

Essential Functions:
• Identify, cultivate and solicit philanthropic partnerships with individuals, and organizations committed to developing strategies for mutual benefit.
• Create effective program of stewardship of individual and corporate partners through engaging them in TWC programs, or providing timely and meaningful reports.
• Maintain corporate and individual relationships to build scholarship support, program funding, and endowment through major gifts.
• Responsible for crafting letters of intent, proposals, and follow up for solicitations and donations.
• Identify and meet with potential donors to the Washington Center. This includes alumni, past contributors and others who may be interested in The Washington Center.
• Research and analyze potential funding sources.
• Ensure donor records are kept in a clear and easily accessible format.
• Maintains a prospect assignment base of 100-125 potential donors.
• Work with institutional relations, program and finance staff to ensure gifts that have already been secured are being executed.

Additional Qualifications:

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Three to five years progressive fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting
• Strong writing skills
