Description:
• Devise appropriate approaches to establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, and print publications
• Oversee and execute development strategy for alumni including direct mail, telethon, and identification of major gift prospects
• Oversee development of The Washington Center’s Alumni Advisory Board (AAB), arranging its meetings, staffing its committees and ensuring strong and productive relationships between its members and The Washington Center
• Develop comprehensive grassroots outreach program to creatively engage alumni
• Organize, implement, and ensure success of numerous alumni events in D.C. and around the country
• Plan, implement and promote alumni programs, including educational programs and affinity programs that support The Washington Center strategic plan as well as the goals of the capital campaign in collaboration with colleagues
• Collaborate closely with Senior Manager, Advancement to increase support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts
• Work with Advancement Services Manager to ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.
• Editor of alumni communication outreach including Banner, the bi-yearly alumni newsletter mailed to more than 30,000 alumni
• Partner with Director of Institutional Relations to spearhead the introduction of alumni involvement in the admissions process; partner with the Director of Student Life to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni
• Oversee budget for Alumni Relations; manage existing and/or additional alumni programs, services and communications
• Supervise Senior Coordinator, Alumni Outreach
Additional Qualifications:
Education and Experience an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in alumni relations or volunteer development.
• Must have experience in motivating and managing volunteers.
• Supervisory experience required
• Washington Center alumnus/a preferred
• Fundraising experience preferred.
