Description:
Media Advisor
Washington, DC
Company Profile: Management Systems International is an international development consulting firm based on the D.C. waterfront with offices around the globe. For over 25 years, MSI has worked to improve the daily lives of people in many of the most impoverished and conflict-ridden places of the world through partnerships with domestic and foreign government agencies, corporations, and non-governmental organizations. For more information on MSI, please visit our website at www.msiworldwide.com.
Position Summary: MSI is seeking assistance from a short-term consultant in the field of new media, including the use of blogs, SMS, Facebook, and other resources currently in use in the U.S. and developing countries for purposes far beyond those for which they were initially envisioned, e.g., political mobilization. Other emerging new media resources and practice are of high interest as well.
This individual would be serving as a consultant on these new media resources to an impact evaluation team that will examine the planned and unanticipated results and impact of small media projects both domestically and abroad. Work of the consultant is expected to be intermittent and could start as soon as an appropriate candidate is identified. A background in information dissemination and journalism through new media is needed, along with a reasonable level of awareness of current technology and innovations that are coming on stream in this field. Developing country experience as well as U.S. domestic experience is highly desirable, as is prior involvement in evaluations or other efforts to assess the impact of journalism, particularly via new media resources.
Assignment Duration: Work will be intermittent over a 2-3 year period if MSI is successful in a bid it is making in this field. On a short-term basis the time of a consultant is needed to work with the team that is preparing this bid.
Only candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted. No phone calls, please.
