Sample Letter to Member Organization 10 Poplar Lane Everytown, NY 11111 May 5, 2007 Roland Jennings Membership Coordinator The Association for Nonprofit Bakeries 100 Capital Street Washington D.C. 11111 Dear Roland, My name is Sarah Jones, and I am the executive director of Breadworks, a nonprofit bakery in Everytown, NY; we have been a member of The Association for Nonprofit Bakeries since 1993. Like many executive directors of nonprofit bakeries, I am passionate about my organization and committed to the mission. As the only senior staff member, I handle all human resources issues, along with everything else. And, as you know, our industry struggles with limited financial resources, high turnover, a lack of affordable training for staff, and multiple stakeholders. As a forum and advocate for nonprofit bakeries, the Association is one of our greatest means of support. Therefore, I would like to request the formation within the Association of a Human Resources Working Group. Ideally this working group would be geared towards whoever is directly responsible for paid or unpaid staff within the Association’s nonprofit membership. I have seen many examples of ways that industry Associations can support this kind of working group. Helpful steps include everything from the set-up of an e-mail listserv, to an annual, national gathering around the human resources issues in nonprofit bakeries. Roland, I would love to set up a convenient time to call you and discuss this further. My telephone number: 888-888-8888 My email address: sarah@fakeaddress.fake I look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Sarah Jones Executive Director |
