What’s Going On in the World? When you're thinking about taking action for any reason, one of the most important first steps is to get informed about your cause. Here are some news sites you can use:
To find out what's happening around your community, you can use any search engine (like Google) to find your local news station or newspaper. You can also search Idealist to see if any members of the Idealist community are taking action nearby—use the search bar at the top of every page. Contact us with questions, comments, and additional resources. Materials SearchIdealist's materials search lists about 7,000 resources that can help you get informed. Here are just two examples of materials we found in the Idealist database: Are you interested in endangered wildlife and reforestation issues? Check out World Wildlife Focus to see live web-cam feed from the Ecuadorian jungle, virtual tours of reforestation projects, and an extensive database of wildlife videos. Are you trying to finish your project on world hunger for a class this semester? You might find the online resource library maintained by WHEAT (World Hunger Education, Advocacy and Training) useful. You can find these and more in the Materials database. Click here to get started - just type a keyword into the search box to see what you can find! |
