How to Use Generation Idealist

Welcome! If you're an up-and-coming community leader or world changer, this resource center is for you.

This resource center has three main categories:

The news sites, blogs, podcasts, and youth networks in the Ideas section will help you decide how you want to stay involved.

The Action section will help you move your ideas forward by helping you to find volunteer, work, and study opportunities that inspire you, as well as funding and other support for your work.

Finally, the Impact section will help you to check yourself. Are you staying true to your original idea? Are your projects organized and sustainable?

Some pages and links have been tagged because they might be especially helpful to a certain type of reader:

  • If you want to make a difference while attending high school, keep an eye out for information with the HS Hero tag.

  • If you spend most of your time these days pursuing a degree, you might want to check out the items marked campus culture.

  • If you are charting a non-traditional course -- anything from pursuing a gap year between high school and college, to volunteering internationally or locally for a few months, to designing your own study abroad program -- the free spirit resources should be right up your alley.

  • If you're looking for an internship, job, or volunteer opportunity, items tagged seeker may be helpful.

  • If you don't identify as a young adult but are interested in youth issues and organizations, the information marked young at heart might be useful to you.
