As more students seek careers that have a positive social impact, affect change internationally, or allow them to "do good" in their day-to-day work, the question of how to best direct them to act on those good intentions becomes more pressing. Students who are seeking these types of careers often start their search with a general desire to "do good", but without a thorough understanding of the opportunities in the three sectors. Currently, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a common buzzword in companies and on campuses, and the lines between traditional entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship are increasingly blurred. Career service professionals find themselves at the forefront of providing students the information they need in their search for careers that pay the rent and fulfill a deeper sense of purpose.
This session will provide an overview of the opportunities in the three sectors, tips to help students understand the range of careers in which they can do good", and sector-specific insights into how to assess, research, and conduct an effective "social good" job search. Participants will hear from experts in each sector and will be provided with resources to help students find meaningful careers in any sector.
